Ooh, Baby I Love Your Way (part 13 of 30)

October 13, 2015:  We are now in week 19!

This is probably the week we will share the news publicly with extended family and friends.  We had our appointment with the specialists at the hospital this afternoon.  It was shocking to see how much larger the baby was compared to the last time we saw him or her on August 25th!  The sonographer estimated the baby to be about six inches long and weighing about half a pound but said that the actual measurements would come later in the third trimester.  She explained that right now the baby is curled up and not fully stretching as we could see on the screen.  She tried for at least twenty minutes to get the little one to roll over so she could take a picture of the spine but even after multiple times of me rolling over, walking around the room, and the sonographer poking and prodding we weren’t successful.  Guess the baby inherited both Adam’s and my stubborn streaks!  ; )

Other than the lack of the spine picture, everything else checked out and things appear to be normal from the doctors’ perspective in Pittsburgh and here so that was reassuring news!  I had been worried going into this appointment since I hadn’t felt any movement in the last couple weeks and had sharp shooting pain last week into the weekend.  However, the baby showed us he or she is a wriggler and slider if not a roller.  Adam’s favorite part was seeing the baby’s profile while mine was seeing the little heart beat (still at 143 beats a minute) and the arm so dramatically thrown up by the baby’s face.  Hehe.  I can’t wait to meet this little one and find out who she or he will grow up to be!!!

So, if we share the news this week, that will mean we have kept the news to ourselves for a little over three months…which is also the same amount of time it took Adam and me to really truly get to know each other through late night conversations, countless articles and books read, and baring our souls to one another before he boarded that flight from California to North Carolina.  I guess we’re just continuing the trend of keeping something between us for three months before sharing with others even if it wasn’t intentional.

I can’t wait to take our “family” photo this weekend and hope the weather cooperates for it!  The leaves are changing and the weather is becoming cooler.  In fact, on the way home from the hospital, we made a pit stop at the mall so I could pick up some fall flats.  I scored a super cute pair of teal flats for only $4.99! – thank you Payless’ BOGO and military discount!!  I also purchased a sparkly pair of flats to replace the black sparkly ones I had to throw away last year on account of wearing holes into the soles.  Maybe I will wear them in the family picture this weekend!

Below are my two favorite pictures from this afternoon.  One is an action shot where you can see the arm and hand really well and the other is a pretty sweet profile picture which to date is my favorite one so far of the little guy or girl!
