Ooh, Baby I Love Your Way (post 19 of 30)

Friday, December 18, 2015:  28 weeks 5 days

This was our last full day of the Babymoon and we spent it at the San Diego Zoo!!!

I loved this image!  Denny, the baby, was sleeping all entangled with his Mom's legs!

This was a funny picture we found on my phone.  NO clue what was happening here but it's pretty funny!
From the two hour private behind the scenes tour to the eight hours we spent exploring the zoo on foot, we saw lots of loveable animals and even finished out the day listening to the holiday tunes of the Jingle Brass band.

Enjoying the back of the golf cart as we got started with our personal behind the scenes tour that Adam planned as a surprise for this day!

The oldest tortoise in this picture was 120 years old!!!

...and they ate cabbage!?

We also learned that they also like having their throats tickled!

The peacock was just struttin' his stuff walking across the pathway as we drove along on our tour.  Cute!

I forget the name of this animal but the tour guide told us how they look like wolves but they are actually wild dogs!  They were really tall and stinky...they smelled like skunks!

Do you see the large cat?!

This was in the elephant center where we learned a lot of interesting facts about the elephants!

Well hello there!

Adam feeding the hungry giraffe.  =)
Hippo sighting!

Riding on the top level of the sight seeing bus!  It was nice taking a break from all the walking and getting a ride around the zoo for a bit.  Our driver/tour guide was extremely entertaining...busting into song at random times throughout her talk.

Peek a boo!

This was back at the elephant center where this elephant was getting his (or her) foot cleaned.

We also rode the sky tram!  I don't think I could do it again...it reminded me too much of the scary cable car over the Rapids at Niagara Falls in Canada!!  I was proud of Adam for going in it though...he hates heights so kudos to him!

Way up high above the zoo......!

The polar bears got some snow on the same day we were there!  We didn't see any of the snow but a few days later, it was on the news!  How neat to think that we saw them sunbathing probably hours before they got some of the white stuff!

A reminder Christmas was around the corner....even though it felt like spring!

This one was my favorite!!!  Such a cuddly cute little koala!

Throughout our day at the zoo, we also shot some clips for our new niece, Riley, to insert into a cute video her parents made for her to open on her 12th birthday!  We hope she, and the family, enjoy the various scenes from throughout the zoo.  Here is the last “action shot” video we filmed for her!

Once back in Oceanside, we enjoyed one last stroll on the pier and learned it was 1/3 of a mile each way (oops, not 3/4 of a mile as I said in an earlier posting) so figured we walked at least two miles from our three trips out to sea via the long pier during our stay.  We ate at Ruby’s Diner (a 50s style diner known for burgers and shakes) that is situated at the very end of the pier and immensely enjoyed the milkshakes (Orange 50/50 that tasted like a Creamsicle pop for Adam and Peanut Butter Cup for me).  The food was so-so but I would go back just for the creamy smooth milkshakes!

All in all, this getaway was the perfect way to relax as we came off a busy week and prepared for the next portion of our trip home to Adam’s home state.  Seeing the animals at the zoo, especially the babies with their parents, reminded me of our slowly coming together nursery/guest room/St. Francis room back in Ohio (we have an animal/nature/woodsy theme!) as we await baby’s arrival.  I can’t wait to add the onesie and the new nightlight/stand to the room!  They will be extra special souvenirs from this babymoon in California that’s for sure!
