True meaning of Christmas for little ones

I saw this on a friend's page and love the idea.  I'm sharing it here in case anyone else would like to do this.  Happy Advent!!

I posted this two years ago and wanted to share it again for any parents who might be interested in this beautiful Christmas tradition:

Since becoming parents, Paul and I have spent a lot of time talking about the Christmas traditions that we’d like to share with our children and, most importantly, how we can ground them in the spirit of Advent preparations and the celebration of Christ’s birth. We have decided that, on Christmas morning, each of our children will get three gifts from us – the same number of gifts that the Wise Men gave to the Christ Child when He was born. The first gift will be labeled with a J; the second with an O; and the third with a Y. The meaning of the letters is as follows:

J: A gift that will bring you closer to JESUS.
O: A gift for you to share with OTHERS.
Y: A special gift just for YOU.

This is a beautiful and simple way to remind children of why we celebrate Christmas and to allow their gifts to keep them focused on Christ. I hope that some of you might share this special tradition with your little ones, too!
