Meals as a Mrs. ~ Carne Asada Tacos

I just posted meatless meal and now we're switching gears and visiting one of my favorite recipes from Adam!  The first time we made this in the new house, we set off the smoke detector and alarms so this time around we opened all the windows and had the fan going on top of the A/C.  This is the dinner that Adam made when Monika was here for a visit last month.  We had had a light lunch of a smoothie after a hearty breakfast that morning so were definitely hungry for these tacos by the time time dinner rolled around that Saturday evening.

Warmed up tortilla wraps ready for assembling the tacos!

Adam also whipped up some yummy guacamole to go with these tacos.  This time they were a bit too spicy for me due to the use of jalapenos but it was still super good.  We've decided we'll alternate use of jalapenos and/or the packet of spicy guac mix to satisfy both our appetites.  This past weekend, he made some guac we ate with Tostitos the way I like it (more mild) so looks like the next time we have it, we'll eat his version.  Either way it's good and I just know I will need more water on hand when eating his spicier version!  ; )

We sure do enjoy our food processor!

This meal always reminds us of one of our favorites in California.  Adam and his dad used to get tacos from a hole in the wall liquor shop at a taco stand.  He took me there a few times where we would get it to go.  We would take it to a park down the street and enjoy a picnic lunch there.  Below is a picture standing by our favorite tree after eating the tacos last August.

We also served the tacos and guac with a side of salsa and Tostitos!  Mmm mmm good!

I read this eye opening piece in the Humanae Vitae document tonight when discussing consequences of artificial methods (of birth control):

An effect that gives cause for alarm is that a man who grows accustomed to the use of contraceptive methods may forget the reverence due to a woman, and, disregarding her physical and emotional equilibrium, reduce her to the being a mere instrument for the satisfaction of his own desires, no longer considering her as his partner whom he should surround with care and affection.

How many of us women daydream about the man who will sweep us off our feet only to have him not surround us with care and affection?  How many of us are okay with the men in our lives viewing us as instruments only to be used to satisfy the men's desires?  Or what about the other way around...how many of us want to not cherish the men in our lives by only using him for his bodies?  I don't think many folks on either side would be clamoring at the bit to say, "Yes, these are things I want, yes!"  Yet so many folks are doing that through their actions and lack of commitment, especially our youngsters.  If only we had more respect for ourselves and the other person in the relationship to really give of ourselves to one another in a true and authentic way putting our desires last and the well-being of the other first...would we maybe have more fulfilling and healthy relationships with other?
